Retirement career planning

retirement career planning

Glide Outplacement offers personal and proven retirement career planning services to help you plan for successful and meaningful post-retirement.

With careful preparation and planning, your retirement can signify a new and rewarding chapter of your career. It is an opportunity to realise your true employment dreams and do what you always wanted to do.

If you plan for your retirement it is more likely you will feel positive about it.

Encore jobs

Many people hope to continue working in some form or another post-retirement, either continuing in their existing career or choosing a new direction (also known as an ‘encore’ job). Retirement age career changes often take more courage than those in our twenties and thirties. However, with careful planning it is possible to find a role that is both fulfilling and practical.

Sometimes we face an involuntary change late in our careers, due to redundancy or unemployment. Retirement career planning can help you adjust to this transition and cope with the associated impacts.

Our approach to retirement career planning

Our coaches will provide you with one-to-one support to incorporate the benefits of work and achieve your post-retirement goals.

We will discuss your goals in the context of your interests and motivators. This will help you to understand what you want and what is important to you in this stage of your life, and what gives you purpose and meaning. We also explore issues that may affect your life post-retirement, such as health, finance, relationships, loss of identity and lifestyle.

The coaches work with you to investigate employment options, including work opportunities you may not have considered. These may include voluntary work, mentoring younger people entering the industry, part-time or casual work and consultancy. They can also advise on managing the transition to a different (encore) career or new work roles.

Topics we cover

Key focus areas include:

  • Identifying key transferable skills.
  • Exploring opportunities to learn new skills.
